With all my other quests completed, I only had a few more things left to do around the area. I had to infiltrate two troll compounds: One to the east and one to the west. I started with the eastern camp. It wasn’t a far trek from Brewnall Village. I was surprised right away at the sheer number of Trolls wandering around the area.
Before I got into the cave I was confronted by a large headhunter. I took him down without much of a fight. I knew taking them down one by one would be easy, but how would I fare against two or three?
When I got into the cave, I was confronted with two more Trolls. Using my shield I warded off repeated stabs while the other one charged up for it’s energy attacks. I took them both out, but only barely. The headhunter ran away and got four other trolls to help. I was completely outnumbered. I fell to the cave floor with a thud, defeated.
When I returned I had a plan. There was no possible way for me to take on more than a couple at a time, and my task was to defeat just two more. I decided then that I had enough of the cave. I hid from a distance and waited for a few to wander out into my path. It was my turn to do a surprise attack. Once I reached my goal, I left feeling weaker than ever. I bet if that gnome from the other day was here, she’d take them on without problems.
Still feeling defeated, I hiked to the west to a troll compound high in the hills. My task here was to steal Shimmerweed for a special brew. My waiting strategy seemed to work before, so I tried it again here. I wait for the Trolls to look the other way and grabbed some Shimmerweed from it’s basket. With only one more basket to steal, I thought I would make it out of there without a scratch. As fate would have it, I reached inside a small basket behind a tree, and slowly looked up to see four trolls staring menacingly at me.
Immediately I drew my sword and fought to the fullest extent of my abilities but I was no match for them. Once again I fell, defeated.
Returning to the Troll camp, I carefully grabbed the last of the Shimmerweed, and returned to Brewnall Village. If these confrontations taught me anything, it was that I can’t take on everything myself. Sometimes you need a little help. Next time, I’ll be ready.
