The Four Towers

T

The soldiers around Thorium Point offered a myriad of tasks for me to complete, however every quest centered around a growing threat which was taking over the Searing Gorge. The Dark Iron Dwarves were furiously forging a pit into the smoldering terrain, in an area called “The Cauldron”. This threat was growing in number at an alarming rate, and I was determined to do my part to stop it before it got out of hand.

There are a series of towers surrounding the center of this fortress. I was tasked to set these towers ablaze, taking out as many Dark Iron Dwarves as possible in my wake. So, I geared up and headed down the path toward the first tower. I was met by a grumbling mass of filthy, dark grey dwarves. My weapons sparked and steamed as I fought through my adversaries. These were not the drunken, hearty Dwarves I’d grown accustomed to. If it werent for their fiery red beards, It would be difficult to put them in the same category.

I soon found myself at the base of one of these towers. I stood for a moment, and mentally prepared myself for what I was about to do. I gripped the torch in my bag, and started to run up the ramp. The ground rumbled as I approached the metal structure. Suddenly I was surrounded by a plume of grey ash. A War Golem emerged, stomping falling in my direction. What good are weapons against an enemy made out of solid stone? I sheathed my weapons and ran towards the edge of the Cauldron. When the War Golem swung it’s boulder-like fist down at the ground, I ran straight through it’s legs. The sheer force of the mass was enough to tip the monster straight over the edge, landing with a thundering crash.

With that obstical out of the way, I ran up the structure and immediately lit my torch. The flames quickly spread, and I was forced to jump straight over the edge on to the soft, ash covered ground below. Without looking back, I boarded my mechanostrider and headed eastwards towards the next tower. I took that one out without much of a problem. The third tower was even easier. This was almost too easy.

I eventually made it to the last tower. This one was located across a narrow, rickety bridge. It was guarded by a group of dwarves and a few War Golems. Looks like my rampage has caused a disturbance around the area. I wiped the black Dark Iron blood from my weapons and charged forth. I was surrounded by a fiery mass of dwarves and Golems, all attacking at once. Perhaps I should have taken them on one by one.

I decided to move backwards toward the old bridge. Maybe this narrow passage could be used to my benefit. The Dwarves mindlessly followed suit. The bridge swung violently, knocking off a few Dwarves as I made my way across. The surface across the way was no less chaotic. There would be no way to take down all these Dark Iron Dwarves and live tell about it. I had to finish my objective.

In a last ditch effort, I threw my flaming torch to the top of the structure. It exploded on contact, sending countless Dwarves falling to their fiery doom. As I made my escape, the remains of the rope bridge collapsed, leaving the calvary stranded in the inferno that was once a menacing defense tower.
