The Dunemaul Ogres

M

My next mission would take me to the center of the desert. A group of nomadic Ogres were starting to build a settlement south of Gadgetzan. The storm began to subside as I rode through the sand dunes. I was surprised to see enormous skeletons perturbing from the dunes alongside me. What had this place been home to before becoming such an desert?

I soon discovered what the Goblins at Gadgetzan had sent me to destroy. A vast compound in the distance were was swarming with large sweaty Ogres. I have dealt with countless Ogres in the past. While they looked as dumb as a pile of dung, being able to migrate into areas of nearly any climate surely accounted for something.

There was a shallow cave in the far side of the compound. My past experience has taught me that if there was any kind of shelter from the elements, the leader of the group would be there. I took on the Ogres in small groups of two, keeping a tally as I made my way toward the cave.

I peered into the darkness, and discovered that I was wrong. The cave looked empty. I walked closer, and to my surprise was met with an enormous, brown Ogre holding an enormous axe. I doubled back as the Ogre leader hurled his weapon at me, crashing it into the cave walls. In a heap the cave collapsed behind us as our fight moved into the sand.

I walked closer, and to my surprise was met with an enormous, brown Ogre holding an enormous axe.

The Ogre roared in frustration as I dodged it’s slow, powerful blows. Plumes of dirt burst from the ground as the heavy axe hit the sand. I waited for the right moment to finish the giant. As he yanked and pulled his axe out of the ground, I sunk my fiery axe into it’s forehead. The fat, leathery Ogre hit the ground with a thud that echoed through the land.

I wiped the sweat from my forehead, and surveyed the area. What would happen if Ogres were left untouched, and grew into a powerful civilization? Would they know what to do with such power? All I know is that far and wide, nobody wants to give them that chance.
