A drunk was lumbering around the entrance of the As I walked past the inn. A drunken sailor called me over. He said he’d heard about me around these parts, about all the Orcs I’ve killed. He told me he had just the job for me, but first he wanted a flagon of mead. I was put off at first, but curious as always, I walked into the inn and came out with his alcohol.
The man explained that he was once a First Mate on the Wave Misterss, the Third Fleet of Kul Trias. All was well until his fleet was attacked by a swarm of Red Dragons, controlled by Orcs. Now what’s left of the ships float in shallow waters off the west coast. Though he is the last survivor, the cursed spirits of his crew still remain, mindlessly protecting a mysterious item hidden within the ships hull.
My mission was to get this treasure. Attaining this cursed item would forever lift the curse, and let the sailors rest in peace. Intrigued I took his offer and headed up the west coast. I soon found two massive ships, surrounded by wispy spirits of once great marines and crewmen. How would I kill a ghost?
I approached the ship, and immediately was attacked by cursed sailors. I swung my mace, but my weapon went straight through the spirit, as if it was moving through fog. Then suddenly a green mist enveloped me entirely. I felt my body disappear into thin air. I was now one of them!
As a ghost, I could now interact with the crew. It was almost as if they wanted me to fight them. A horde of dead spirits surrounded me and practically thew themselves at my mace. I must have killed half a dozen before I saw the Captain. He was not like the others. This sailor was still alive, or so it seemed.
In a shrill voice he yelled “You’ll never get the Eye of Paleth!”. He charged towards me, almost knocking me into the water. We fought, his sword clanging against my shield. Then a vivid green energy surrounded the corrupted captain. I had to shield my eyes from the sheer brightness of the energy. When it stopped I finished him off, knocking him off the ship. A key dropped from his neck, and I caught it before falling into the water myself.
In a shrill voice he yelled “You’ll never get the Eye of Paleth!”. He charged towards me, almost knocking me into the water.
Key in hand, I swam through a large opening in the bottom of the hull, and there I found an old battered locker. Inside a small, black lustrous object glowed with a dim, green light. I took it out of the locker, and all at once the ghosts around me scattered.
I returned to the inn where the old First Mate stood. He jumped back when he saw the object in my hand. In a shaky voice he told me to show it to Glorin Steelbrow to find out how to remove the Eye’s curse. Steelbrow examined the cursed object, then told me that the only way to remove the curse was to bring it to Archbishop Benedictus in the Stormwind cathedral. I put the cursed eye in my bag and climbed aboard a gryphon and prepared for the long flight across the Eastern Kingdom.
