Taking the Path Untravelled

F

Following the main path to the north, I soon discovered a shortcut. It was teeming with snow leopards and bears, but I had dealt with these creatures before. I hopped the fence and went on my way. Immediately I was attacked by several snow leopards. Using some new moves I learned back at the tavern, I easily defeated both animals and continued on.

As I trudged along, I noticed a clearing to the east. Throwing caution aside, I entered the run down pathway. I quickly discovered that this pathway was hidden for a reason. Deep within the mountain lived a massive Wendigo. I took cover behind a rock and slowly moved backwards trying to remain hidden.

Behind me I noticed an even narrower path leading up the mountain. I was already way off task, so I started to traverse the windy passage way. At the top I met a dwarf by the name of Tundra MacGrain . Tundra was well aware of the large Wendigo below. It had a name, “Old Icebeard”. He gave me the task to defeat the monster, while retrieving his stash of dried meats.

I knew I wouldn’t be able to win this alone. I called out for some assistance, and by chance my request was met by a fellow adventurer. After a short wait, she came to my aid. She had dealt with this Wendigo before, and without skipping a beat we both took action. She and her pet hurled magic spells at Icebeard as I hacked away at it with my sword, while blocking it’s slow, powerful attacks with my shield. After a short battle, Old Icebeard was knocked out.

This was just enough time for me to sneak in and grab the stash. My fellow Gnome and I parted ways, and I retreated back to the top of mountain. Tundra was overjoyed. He rewarded me with some sturdy bracers.

I was glad I decided to take that road, but it was time to get back on my original route.
