Kobolds and Fighting Farmsteads

I

I heard the locals speaking of a small town to the south of the city called Goldshire. There was said to be a number of farms around that area. I decided to pay a visit. Surely they would have something for me to do.

After a short walk outside, I made it to Goldshire. I was surprised to see how many guards were stationed around the area. This must be a place of high alert. To the left of me there was an old inn. As I entered, I spoke with an old man named William Pestle. He told me about a mine directly to the south of the town which was infested with Kobolds. These were rat like creatures which carried around candles. William wanted me to gather these candles for him and his brother to help with their apothecary.

I took his task, then walked outside. Another man called me over. He must have overhead William because he had another Kobold task for me. Apparently these creatures also hold a sort of gold dust. Though he did not disclose his purpose, Remy wanted lots of it and was willing to pay. I took his task as well.

I jumped over the fence and started heading toward the Fargodeep mine. Just outside I heard a strange, high pitched grumbling. Charging straight at me was a short, wrinkly creature yelling “You no take candle!”. I had found the Kobolds. I drew my mace and shield and the Kobold stopped in his tracks. He threw the candle at me and scurried off into the wilderness. “This will be easier than I thought”, I said to myslelf.

I headed down the hill and entered the mine. I was greeted by about five angry Kobolds. They swarmed around me growling and mumbling. Without hesitation I swong my mace, knocking the creatures over in one fell swoop.

These creatures were weak, but made up for it with their speed. When nearing defeat, they would run away, gathering more and more. Still, they were not much of a match for me. I collected my bounty and exited the mine.

In between the mine, there were two farms. I decided to visit to see if the people there had anything for me to do. The first farm I entered was owned by the Maclure family. A young woman by the name of Maybell Maclure had something for me to do. She had fallen in love with the young man named Joe Stonefield in the farm nearby. She wrote a love letter, but could not deliver it herself because the two farmsteads are bitter rivals. A hopeless romantic myself, I took his letter and promised to deliver it.

I made my way across to the other farm, stomping over a few Kobolds in the process. I found Maybell’s lover by a river just outside the farm. Careful not to be seen by the family, I handed him the note. Passionately, he told me to talk with his grandmother, insisting that she knew how to get the two together. She instructed me to visit none other than William Pestle.

I trudged back to Goldshire, wondering exactly what William would have in store. I gave the Gold Dust to Remy and entered the inn. After Giving William his candles, I explained the situation. He sympathized with the two lovers and instructed me to find some Crystal Kelp at the lake nearby. The kelp was held by creatures known as the Murloc.

Following William’s Instructions I headed out. The frog-like Murlocs ran up and down the coastline, protecting their small huts. I lured one over. As soon as it saw me it started charging towards me making a sound that could only be described as the noise of a dwarf choking on a fish. Ignoring their squeals, I grabbed some Crystal Kelp and returned to William.

He using the kelp, he conjured up a potion that would allow Maybell to become invisible for a short while; just long enough to get to Joe. Potion in hand I headed back to the farm and gave Maybell the potion. She drank it and immediately vanished into thin air.

I may never know if she made it to Joe, the potion certainly worked.
