Fighting Through the Grizzled Den

I

I took a break to gather my thoughts. I think I got carried away. I’m no killer.. people hunt animals for food, right? That’s all I’m doing. Just trying to make a living. I returned all the meat and hides to their rightful owners and collected my fee. The animals were only part of my requirements. I still had to get Rumbleshot’s bullets, and enter the Grizzled Den.

This was a quest that I was putting off. No longer because I was afraid to fight, but because I found myself looking forward to it. I ran down the snowy hill and closed in on Rumbleshot’s tent. There was a large box filled with ammo. I put a few handfuls in my bag and headed toward the cave.

Before I could enter, a large, white Wendigo came rushing towards me. Without even thinking I took out my sword and swung as hard as I could. Within seconds the creature was down. I skinned the animal, then raised my sword and charged at a pack of three Wendigo, I tore at one Wendigo, rending it. I let it bleed while I focused my attacks on the others. I took them all down without so much as a scratch. I delved deeper into the den, taking larger and larger groups as I progressed. Soon I had the eight Wendigo Manes that Stonegear challenged me to collect, but I had much more fight left in me. I stayed in the cave and gathered a large amount of hides for my growing collection.

I then returned Rumbleshot’s ammo and made the trek back to Pilot Stonegear, feeling more powerful than ever. Stonegear, it seemed didn’t think I was strong enough to progress through the cave. He took the hides, looking suspiciously at me. Walking away I couldn’t help but agree with him. I have killed so many animals that it is becoming second nature..

Back in Kharanos, more quests awaited me. Now I had to venture to the far eastern corner to a small establishment to take care of another Troll problem.
