Arathi Basin would be a great challenge, unlike anything I’ve fought before. I decided to stop at Ironforge to upgrade my armor to prepare myself. While I was at the Auction House, I noticed some adventurers with glowing weapons. I asked a fellow warrior where he got such a thing, and he instructed me to purchase a scroll of enchantment. Taking his advice, I purchased a scroll called “fiery weapon”. Muttering the cryptic words on the scroll, my axe suddenly burst alight in an orange glow.
After a few more upgrades, I set off to Arathi to partake in the war efforts. Upon arrival, the guard instructed me to join a large group of alliance soldiers at the front lines. Behind the gates, the alliance soldiers roared and cheered as we looked at the obstacles at hand. Arathi Basin had several waypoints which would determine the champions of the battle.
The war horns rang out and the gates opened. I felt a rush of anxiety as my comrades stampeded down the hill towards the stables at the base of the hill. Unsheathing my weapons I looked off into the distance. There was no Horde to be seen. Maybe this wouldn’t be so tough after all. An alliance soldier raised our flag, and in an instant the group moved up to the lumber mill. As we raised our flag, I peered over the hill to see if there were any Horde Soldiers.
Directly across the way, I saw the Horde flag, glowing red outside the blacksmith shop, but there were no soldiers visible. I heard a rumble as my squadron began to move down the hill to the farm. As we moved closer, I was both excited and surprised to see the area filled with Horde soldiers.
Following the others, I jumped off my mechanostrider and sprang into action. An undead warrior came thumping towards me holding an enormous axe with both hands. I was knocked over by the tremendous force of the weapon. I jumped to my feet and attacked the filthy abomination with my own axe. As I clashed with my opponent my weapon exploded with a fiery blaze.
I was so wrapped up in this fierce battle that I forgot to follow my group. I soon found myself up against a whole legion of Horde soldiers. I turned to run but I was completely outnumbered. The last thing I remember was a large hoof coming straight towards my face. I woke up surrounded by other fallen soldiers at the lumber mill, which was now under attack by a group of Horde. Joining the skirmish, I helped a mage as he was being chased by a large Orc rogue. In the chaos, the Orc did not see me. As he laughed at the defeated mage I swiped my axe at his shins, knocking him to the blood-soaked ground. My fellow soldiers helped me finish him off. Having successfully defended the lumber mill we rode towards the gold mine to the far east.
I saw more bloodshed than I had ever seen before as I rode though the chaos. Suffering a few casualties, we soon arrived at the mill. It was guarded by a small handful of Horde soldiers. We took them out with little resistance, and burned their flag to the ground, placing our own in it’s place.
As he laughed at the defeated mage I swiped my axe at his shins, knocking him to the blood-soaked ground.
Our victory was short lived. In the distance, more Horde soldiers came rushing at us. We stood steadfast defending our post, but we knew we were outnumbered. I turned around to see a second group of five or more Horde running down the hill behind us. This would be a tough fight.
Staying close to my comrades, we fought with the fury of a squad twice our size. I took down an undead mage, as the others focused on the paladin. Despite our valiant efforts, we ultimately were unsuccessful in our plight. A warlock sent her Void Walker on a blind rampage towards me. I swung at it with my axe and shield but could not defeat the duo. I was cursed by the wretched dark conjurer. In my last dying breath I saw our flag burning, in it’s own last stand.
I awoke back in Refuge point. The Alliance had lost control over the basin, however this war effort was ongoing. Once our numbers increased, the Alliance would launch another attack. Despite our loss, I felt reinvigorated; ready to take on more challenges.
A while ago, when I was at Rachet, I spoke briefly with a Goblin. He spoke fondly of a place called Gadgetzan in the deserts of Tanaris. I was ready for a change of venue. I felt confident that Tanaris would have something to offer. Surely there’d be no pirates.
