A Rude Awakening

I

I awoke suddenly with a terrible headache late that night. I clutching my head in my hands, I walked outside and found myself in this old familiar place. The air wreaked of dead fish and gun powder. Even at this late hour, adventurers from all over the land walked around the area in a mindless rush, darting every which way, preoccupied with their own missions.

“Ah whats the point?”, I called out to no one. It seemed every new place I visited was no different from the last. No matter how far I travelled, there would always be stagnant villagers with a laundry list of creatures to kill, items to deliver or scores to settle. Why was it my responsibility to carry out these duties? Why can’t they simply do it themselves for a change? All this questing has left me tired, sore, and jaded.

Maybe I’ll just pack up my  things and return to Dun Morough. I’ve killed enough. Now I’m ready to retire. Maybe I’ll break in that fishing pole I purchased so long ago. With my mind made up, I packed up my things and walked out as the sun began to rise over the docks.

Just then I was knocked back by a blinding blue light. A familiar voice rang out “Think you’ve got it all figured out?! Think you’ve done it all!? You haven’t! This is only the beginning! This all part of a test you must pass! You mustn’t let your people down!”. In an instant it was gone and I was left alone again.

At once I was reminded of a mysterious letter I received months ago. This had to be Ollo, and he was not happy. In the beginning, I seemed to get help from mysterious strangers. There was that Dwarf in Loch Modan, and that Night Elf in Elwynn Forest, but all at once, they disappeared. Maybe they’ve been secretly helping me all along the way. Or perhaps they thought I could make it on my own.

Think you’ve got it all figured out?! Think you’ve done it all!? You haven’t! This is only the beginning! This all part of a test you must pass! You mustn’t let your people down!

I thought about this for a while, that night. Ollo’s appearance taught me one thing that would stick with me forever. There were big things in store for me, but to get there I’d have to travel to the far reaches of Azeroth and beyond. I must remain patient and steadfast. I will find my calling soon enough.

The next morning I awoke with a new sense of purpose. I polished my weapons and boarded the Gryphon. My mission is finally clear again. I must continue fighting, to brave the forces of evil to better myself so that I will live up to my ultimate potential. The first stop on this new quest would be a challenge. I decided to visit Arathi, to join the war efforts at Arathi Basin.
